Who is Eligible for Amazon A+ Content?

For years, the rule was simple: “No Brand Registry, No A+ Content.”

In 2025, that rule has evolved. While Brand Registry remains the golden key to the castle, Amazon has expanded access to specific features for different types of sellers. Whether you are a private label brand, a book author, or selling generic goods, you might have more access than you think.

This guide provides the definitive eligibility checklist to help you determine if you can start using rich media to boost your conversion rates today.

I. The Standard: Brand Registered Sellers

This is the primary path for 90% of sellers. If you want full control over your brand’s visual identity, this is mandatory.

You are eligible for Basic A+ Content if:

  1. Professional Selling Plan: You have an active Professional Seller account (paying the monthly subscription fee), NOT an Individual plan.
  2. Amazon Brand Registry: You have successfully enrolled your brand in Amazon Brand Registry. This requires a pending or registered trademark in the country where you wish to enroll.
  3. Rights Owner: You must be the designated “Rights Owner” or a registered agent for the brand.
  • What You Get: Basic A+ Content (5 modules), Brand Story, and Video upload privileges.

II. The Exception: Generic Listings (New Update)

Historically, unbranded products were stuck with boring text descriptions. However, Amazon recently updated its policy to allow “Generic” listings access to a lighter version of these tools.

You are eligible if:

  1. Professional Selling Plan: You must be on the Professional plan.
  2. Listing Status: Your product is listed as “Generic” (i.e., it does not have a brand name).
  • What You Get: Access to Basic A+ Content only.
  • What You Don’t Get: You cannot use a Brand Story, and you typically cannot upgrade to Premium A+.

III. The Author Path: KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing)

Authors often forget they are selling a product, too. Amazon encourages authors to treat their book pages like landing pages.

You are eligible if:

  1. KDP Account: You have published a book (eBook or Print) through KDP.
  • What You Get: You can create A+ Content to showcase illustrations, author bios, and book series timelines directly from your KDP dashboard. No trademark required.

IV. The “Pro” Tier: Who is Eligible for Premium A+?

Premium A+ Content (formerly invite-only) creates a website-like experience with full-width video and interactive carousels. It is now free, but you must earn it.

To unlock Premium A+, you must meet these strict criteria:

  1. Brand Story Active: You must have a “Brand Story” module published on all of your Brand Registered ASINs.
  2. Submission Volume: You must have 15+ approved A+ Content submissions within the past 12 months.
  • Pro Tip: If you meet these criteria, access is granted automatically at the beginning of the following month. You do not need to apply.

V. Special Programs: Launchpad & Exclusives

If you are part of Amazon’s accelerator programs, you get a “fast pass.”

You are eligible if:

  1. Amazon Launchpad: Startups accepted into Launchpad get immediate access to Premium A+ features.
  2. Amazon Exclusives: Sellers who agree to sell only on Amazon (and their own site) gets expedited access to branding tools.

Conclusion: Check Your Status Today

If you are paying for a Professional Seller account, you are leaving money on the table by not utilizing A+ Content. Even if you don’t have a trademark yet, check your “Advertising” tab in Seller Central—you might be surprised to find the A+ Content Manager is already unlocked for your generic listings.
